
Richard Wortham, Executive Vice President of the Texas Beef Council
was named as the 2003 Texas Brahman Association’s Beef Booster of the Year.Since 1962, during the Texas Brahman Association’s Annual Meeting, a deserving person or entity is recognized for outstanding contributions to the beef industry. TBA President Billy Dan Lindley of Sulphur Springs said "Richard Wortham is a most deserving recipient of this year’s award for his far sighted leadership of the Texas Beef Council and his work on its behalf since 1988."
J. D. "Bubba" Sartwelle, Brahman Breeder from Sealy, made the Beef Booster of the Year presentation at the annual TAMU Beef Cattle Short Course on Tuesday, August 5th on the TAMU campus. Sartwelle said, "the leadership and dedication to the industry provided by Richard Wortham is surpassed by none and equaled by few; he is a most deserving recipient of this award".
Richard Wortham has made the Texas Beef Council the premier State Beef Council of the nation while recognizing Texas’ unique position as a production state, a consumption state and one with a close association with our international trading partners in Mexico, Latin and South America.
The Texas Brahman Association initiated its "Beef Booster of the Year" award in 1962 and counts a distinguished list of industry leaders, doers, and thinkers among its recipients.
TBA Directors Sally Allison and Jimmy Sartwelle were in attendance as J.D. "Bubba" Sartwelle, past TBA President, made the presentation.
